I got back late last week from my trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. The primary purpose was for business but I went a couple days early to see family and friends. I had sent messages out to people on Buzznet several weeks in advance and then did a couple more follow ups after that. I appreciated that several people were very upfront about not being able to make a meetup on that weekend and I did have a couple unavoidable last minute cancellations due to illnesses but generally I was extremely disappointed in several people who said they would be there but didn’t show up. Cherubrock/Viola did show up and brought a friend but she doesn’t even live in San Francisco. Even though I am one of the few native Californians this experience really dredged up the “flakey Californian” stereotype.
I did enjoy going to my old haunts in SF and the business aspect of my trip was successful. I did hook up with my old high school chum Mike and we had a couple great nights out. He is a brilliant character and it is always life affirming to spend some time with him. I’m hoping that my next trip to San Francisco is a bit more positive than this last one – despite being a hardass I am forgiving.

i was supposed to go meet some people in SF but then i flaked out on them.
HAH! EAT THAT, CALIFORNIA!
JayV, there’s a difference between a stereotype and a personality flaw
Come to Vancouver and we will show you some real hospitality !
conundrum: the flakes also tend to flake on reading stuff like this
I don’t post things for flakes in California to read them.
Corinne! I’d love to visit Vancouver!
WHAT?? They flaked out on “Da Man?” Psssft….crazy.
yeah, totally whack Lani, I’d rather go to NYC anyway
Look me up when you come back here. I was suppose to meet up with you guys last time you all came to NY. But I hiked upstate that day and got home tired. But I’ll refrain from hiking next time, yo.
sounds great Lani!
