So 9 days after my handlebars snapped while on vacation in Maine I really think my wrist is broken. I went for more x-rays on Friday and will hear back next week sometime but this is an all-too-familiar pain as I’ve been breaking bones since I was about 11 years old.
I have some range of movement back but there’s an ongoing ache and sudden pain if I move my hand in certain directions. Also, there are some spots on my elbow where I can barely stand to touch the skin – perhaps I should have that looked at? I wear the brace most of the day but it makes sleep extremely difficult and I wake up many times per night. I tried not wearing it at night but accidentally rolled onto that arm and had to go dose with Aleve in order to fall asleep again.
What to do though? You spend a few thousand dollars on a premium bike and it shouldn’t fall apart. Two seasons ago those handlebars were rewrapped and they were fine, last season I didn’t ride, and while I rode a lot this season, it wasn’t enough to justify the bars falling apart. Who to talk to? I can’t even find a way to contact the manufacturer – am only sent to their Q & A pages.
